Eat Local for Thanksgiving: Take the Pledge

Dscn2050

With Thanksgiving quick on its way to our dinner tables, we all have an opportunity to try to include some great local products, as well as support our local economy and farms at the same time.  What a deal!   It's time to take the Pledge to include one local ingredient in your Thanksgiving meal.  You can take the Pledge at Puget Sound Fresh's Eat Local For Thanksgiving website: http://www.pugetsoundfresh.org/eatlocal/index.asp.  When you take the Pledge, you'll be joining thousands from throughout the Puget Sound area.  Check out others who have taken the Pledge at Puget Sound Fresh's youtube channel: http://www.youtube.com/user/cascadeharvest

In 2009, The National Turkey Federation estimates that 46 million turkeys were eaten at Thanksgiving.  While it can prove tricky to find a locally grown bird if you haven't already planned ahead--as they are soooo popular and go like hotcakes--there are so many other great local products you can include. Here are some ideas for how to get your hands on Pierce County products.

Veggies, fruits, breads, sausages, meats, cheeses, pastas, and more.
